Learning

Learning is hands on at Bluff School. Our mornings are Literacy based linking in Reading, Writing, Oral and Visual Language. Teachers work in small groups to cater for all the needs of our learners. Our Writing is based around practical experiences and hands on examples. Literacy is taught five days a week. Reading is based around decoding and comprehension of texts through a guided reading approach.

Mathematics is taught before lunch and we link in Numeracy with Strand teaching. The children also work on basic knowledge in maths. The focus in Maths again links to catering for the individual learning needs in the room through group teaching.

The afternoon learning Inquiry linking in the rest of the Curriculum areas for a term focus. All inquiry is based around Kath Murdoch and our goal is to have an end result at the end of the term that we can share with our Whānau. Kapa haka is incredibly important to us and our whole school participates.
